We spent a lot of time on OBB geeking out over bride fashion and accessories, but what about grooms? We do groom gear posts when we see something that blows our mind a little bit, and Jesse and his Victorian aesthetic definitely qualifies…
Jesse’s bride Aiko explains:
Jesse was very clear from the beginning of our wedding planning that he wanted “pretty clothes”, with hand tailoring and luxurious brocades. He hated the idea of wearing a traditional tux and likes a lot of historical clothing (anything before the Industrial Revolution). Jesse’s favorite colors are black, gray, and purple, so he wanted something in those colors that was historically inspired (rather than dead on historically accurate). His wedding outfit was primarily inspired by Heath Ledger’s wedding coat in “The Patriot”. It is a Revolutionary War style long coat in charcoal gabardine, with matching trousers. His waist coat is silver satin brocade and his cravat is imitation plum dupioni silk.
Oh, but there’s so much more…

The watch he is holding is an 1886 Elgin key wind pocket watch that was given to him as a gift by the best man. The watch was restored by Rusty Tuggle from the Antique Watch Company. In the tradition of Victorian love tokens, the watch fob is woven out my hair and fitted with silver dipped original Victorian findings.
Jesse sewed all three of his groomsmen’s wool frock coats. As Aiko says, “I think that’s pretty badass.”
Jesse’s sword is a Horseman’s Basket Hilt Broadsword.

Okay so, I love everything that my fiance and I have decided on for our August wedding. The colors, the invitations, the venue, my dress, the flowers, everything. But then I saw THIS, and was insanely jealous. OMG. Loooove it!

My dress came from a talented historical seamstress named Christine Hall. You can google her name to see her website. I love my dress and it fits perfectly, even though we’ve never met in person. She also recovered my parasol.
Oooh I wish I knew how to get into contact with you, or that I had seen this post back in March! I have been seriously considering using Christine Hall for my dress because she’s one of the few people I’ve seen who I feel would get all the intricate Victorian details right on my dress. But I’m so wary because I hate the idea of never being able to go to a fitting. I really, really wish I could talk to someone who’s been through the process about how it went! And your dress was beautiful, so beautiful. I actually bet money with myself when I saw it that it was someone I’d heard of before, since I’ve probably spent a full day looking for the right person to make my dress and all the ones who make high-quality Victorian-inspired designs like that stick out in my head.

That dress is JUST AMAZING, and I love that the groom was totally on board with the themese. My dress is also going to be based on the Victorian era (specifically, Worth designs from 1885-1900). So lovely.

Oh my… I love the horse idea. My fiance and I decided to go gothic victorian, so the horse shot really inspired me since i’m a horse lover since my childhood.
