A sun-filled same-sex Jewish wedding with an eco-friendly mindset

At a Glance

With an eye for using local businesses and salvaged materials, we already like this wedding. But add in two gorgeous ladies, a fabulous spring day at Joaquin Miller Park, and a personalized chuppah, and I am in! Don’t miss the matching purple flats and bookish details too.

Kate and Margee had an outdoor Jewish ceremony at Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland, California. Throughout the planning, they were committed to supporting local businesses, using local foods, and using salvaged materials to be more eco-friendly.

Alison Yin photographed the day and said of the pair, “These two are so super-duper in love that when I’m around them, I feel like I’m intruding on this really special and intimate moment. But the truth is, that’s just how their relationship is — they wholly appreciate each minute that they get to spend with one another.”

After that testament, how could you not root for these two? With their specs on, flowers in their hair, and matching purple flats, they are just too adorable for words.

What a gorgeous place this wedding was in! I really like the way everyone was seated on steps looking down at the couple, and then there was a beautiful view spreading out behind them. Really cool and they look so beautifully happy.

Good golly…they should be arrested, because being that cute is probably illegal! Also, they look adorbs together. Like they were made for each other. Congrats to them!

This was one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever been to. It was so beautiful, joyful and perfectly reflected what special people Kate and Margee are. Also, they obviously have great style!

Simple yet beautiful ceremony. There’s a jewelry store in los feliz , ca that has a western wall collection and one of the wedding bands in that collection has the inscription “Ani L’dodi Vedodi Li,” I am my beloved’s, my beloved is mine.
