You HAVE to see the giant Stargate, light-up dress, and Minecraft cake at this video game-themed wedding

At a Glance

A light-up dress. A blinking tie clip. Centerpieces filled with D20 dice. Chicken and waffles on the menu. Kaylee’s parasol. A Minecraft cake so epic the guests didn’t realize it was cake. Mario and Luigi as ringbearers. Guests in costumes. A grand entrance through a giant Stargate. This geeky video game-themed wedding is an explosion of nerdy goodness.

Lindsay and Nathanael got married this July at DeLack Estate in Stanwood, Washington. and the guests were urged not to wear red shirts, of course. They danced their first dance to “The Rainbow Connection” and sang along to each other.

Oh man. My wedding is also going to be heavy on the video games, star trek, etc. So these posts always make me positively giddy. Such fun!

Looove the dice centerpieces- we’re thinking of doing something similar at our wedding this summer. And the board game table!

    SO. MUCH. TO. LOVE!!
That boutonniere with the D-20 and tiny little controller? OMG!
Even though the post pre-warned I had NO IDEA that mine craft display was the cake! I thought it was a bunch of boxes, maybe full of favors? Then came the photo of them cutting it and MIND = BLOWN!!

Oh my goodness, you are so right. I completely forgot about the cake (I was geeking out over the multitude of dodecahedrons) and so I was like, oh cool Minecraft favors, and then they had a knife and it BLEW MY MIND. That is the most realistic cake I’ve ever seen.

We had THE MOST AMAZING people help us with our day (friends, family, a day-of-coordinator worth her weight in gold & of course an amazing photographer). In fact, we found our baker a month before our wedding because the caterer told us they couldn’t do the cake. Our minds were blown when we saw the cake too! I had leftover Minecraft blocks from making the nieces’ Minecraft bouquets (it’s what they wanted), so I told my friends decorating to “go play with blocks”. 🙂 We honestly had a great day. Wouldn’t have changed a thing. 🙂

I’m dying to know where you got the appropriately colored d20s for the centerpiece thing. I’d love to do something similar but am having a hard time finding bulk dice in single colors.

Please tell me where you found bulk dice gaming dice in a specific color for (hopefully) a good price!? I’m looking for it, too, in Royal Blue at least but have other wish list colors too.

I would love this information as well as where you got the giant D20 (guessing they are made of foam?!? Squee!)

I know Chessex is a good source for dice, they have any color you might want, translucent, opaque, even swirls in all sorts of gorgeous colors and combos. The opaque ones run about $0.55 per all the way up to $1.45 per for the gorgeous swirly sparkly sort. I think the translucent ones go for $0.80 per for a D20. Not sure if that’s the price you’re looking for, but if you’re getting enough they might be willing to cut you a deal.

Wow, I love everything about this wedding!

The photo van instead of a photo booth is really neat.
