What our wedding was really worth

I have financial guilt the way my Catholic friends have sex guilt. I do spend money; they do have sex. But it’s rare we’re entirely comfortable during the act, and we almost always question ourselves after. I can imagine so many other things to spend money on — good things, things that will last longer, things more deserving, things more logical.

So, people think you’re too young to get married

I am 19 years old and I’ve been with my boyfriend for 4 years. We are very much in love and have eventual plans for marriage, but nothing set in stone. An old friend recently commented that we were “too young” to be engaged. How can I diffuse future situations where others judge our love to be “too young” for anything serious?

Beth & Jay’s sunflower, kid-friendly, 40-something wedding

When asked what made her wedding offbeat, Beth said, “What, being gray and bald isn’t offbeat enough in our pretty young bride magazine world?” I say that anyone who rocks who they are and where they’re at in their life at their wedding (or in general) is just plain awesome. Beth and Jay did, in fact, rock their kid-friendly, 40-something second wedding. It included a traditional service featuring Beth’s kids as the wedding party, sunflowers, and lots of DIY details.
