Melinda & Paul’s disability-friendly, southern, sports rivalry wedding
Paul wanted a traditional Catholic wedding, whereas Melinda wanted to let her true colors shine. So they met in the middle and had a Catholic ceremony, followed by a rockin’ reception at the hall next to Edgar Allen Poe’s grave. The best part of the day for Melinda was when she walked without her crutches for the first time in eighteen years!
Marriage as an act of freedom vs. conformity
Anyone who has taken a Gender Studies class knows all the standard stuff about marriage being an exchange of chattel, property, protecting the paternity of babies, etc. We can see how these historical dynamics still affect us.
Tina & Nico’s relaxed family wedding in a castle
Tina & Nico got legally married in May, so they were free to get wedding’d their way. So, they had a family-filled wedding at a castle in Belgium. When I say family filled, I mean they literally involved their family as much as possible. Both Tina & Nico’s fathers officiated the wedding!
