10 amazing wedding trends that are changing the face of weddings
Weddings have changed quite a bit since I started out as a wedding photographer in 2006. Photographing offbeat, LGBT, and tattooed weddings I’ve seen about every imaginable theme, trend, ceremony, and style. Some of my favorites include three weddings I photographed in prisons, several circus themed weddings complete with sideshows, and my fire-breathing groom with the fire-whipping bride. These are some of the biggest changes I’ve noticed in the last few years…
Gold, glamour, and top hats at this stunning New Year’s eve wedding
Samantha and Nolan seriously know how to throw a New Year’s wedding to end all parties. Yep, this includes sequins, mismatched gold bridesmaids, tops hats, confetti, and kisses at midnight. It took place at The Chicory in New Orleans and between the clock decor (to count down to midnight!), the fur stoles, the FAB Monique Lhuillier gown, and the towering cake, this was one traditional-gone-wild New Year’s wedding.

This Labyrinth wedding of two ladies is already a cult classic with us
Emma and Rebecca’s Labyrinth wedding took place in Mesnes Park in Wigan, UK. From the music (Magic Dance!) to the costumes (just wait until you see the goblins and fireys and Bowie makeup) to the amazing worm cake (come inside and meet the missus!), this was an homage to the cult classic the likes of which we have never seen.

The week before my wedding, I had a bit of a freak out (familiar to anyone else?). I realized that my wedding seemed really… serious. And I was not comfortable being serious about an important life moment while a bunch of people were staring at me.
In order to feel more comfortable during my own wedding, I came up with a variety of coping mechanisms. Due to poor planning (and some resistance from relatives), I just barely missed executing many of these ideas. Here they are, my gift to you…
