Essential unplugged wedding tips from real couples who went device-free
Have you been down with the unplugged wedding concept yet? If you’ve ever wanted to avoid a thousand iPhones hovering in front of your highly paid pro photographer, you’ve likely considered it. The biggest reason, in our eyes, of asking guests to be nice and turn off the device is to make sure they’re actually present. It’s super easy to get tugged into tagging photos or liking others while you’re trying to convey your love and commitment. We decided to follow up with some readers who chose to go unplugged to see how it all went. They shared unplugged wedding tips including some logistics, some successes, and one or two tiny regrets.
This vintage travel-themed wedding is killing us with retro style
Growing up on opposite ends of the world, we always thought it was magical how fate brought us together in the same place at the same time. We decided on a vintage travel-themed wedding! From our flight attendant-inspired bridesmaids to our vintage airmail favors filled with candy from around the world, every detail was carefully selected to bring out the adventure of travel for our guests.
Bring your feline wedding party with you via painted cat shoes
We’ve got the most intimate and tearful Washington D.C. elopement coming up later this week, but I wanted to highlight one little detail that swept me off my feet. Courtney and Marisa wanted to bring their two kitties to the ceremony, but understandably, kitties aren’t down for travel. They prefer sitting pretty on the couch… to which I can relate! But to honor their presence, Courtney rocked hand-painted shoes with portraits of the two cats on them.
A Friday the 13th barn wedding with coffee, skulls, and floral prints
This wedding combines so many disparate things into one cohesive blend of awesomeness. It’s a Friday the 13th barn wedding featuring a gorgeous rose-printed skirt, lots of creepy and elegant skull decor (for Friday the 13th, natch!), Jason masks, a Nightmare Before Christmas cake topper, pop culture Mad Libs, and a lovely outdoor ceremony. Don’t miss the killer coffee truck with accompanying lovey-dovey latte art!
