Based on reader feedback that it was “hard to find any weddings of people of color,” we started tagging posts that featured a BIPOC bride and/or groom — and/or means you’ll find tons of interracial couples in here! Increasing visibility for BIPOC folks has been a priority for us since 2008, and note that we always allow folks to self-identify. More about how and why we do this here.

A skull-filled Halloween wedding with on-site ring tattoos

Michelle and Shaun planned a Dia de los Muertos-meets-Halloween-meets heavy metal wedding with barbecue, kegs of beer, papier-mâché masks, and skull details. And get this, they got ring tattoos… AT THE WEDDING!

Curiouser and curiouser: it’s an Alice in Wonderland wedding

Nicole and Mike had an Alice in Wonderland-themed wedding complete with flower girl and ring bearer costumes, mushroom and teacup centerpieces, and the bride’s handmade blue dress (complete with lacy pantaloons!). Mike channeled his inner Mad Hatter too. The wedding was held at Darby House in Galloway, OH and was the perfect outdoor backdrop to this theme.

Angel & Candi’s self-catered vegetarian wedding

Gothic and sarcastic weds bubbles and sunshine, and it’s not without its challenges. But these two ladies manage to pull together a self-catered vegetarian feast in a colorful space all on a budget, because one is crafty and the other can cook! It sounds like a match to me.

A magical and bookish Harry Potter wedding with a golden snitch cake

I may be biased, but I do so love a Harry Potter wedding. Allyson and Casey had some awesome details for it: book pages wrapped around candles, tables named after places in the novels, the Sorting Hat, and even a SNITCH CAKE!
