Based on reader feedback that it was “hard to find any weddings of people of color,” we started tagging posts that featured a BIPOC bride and/or groom — and/or means you’ll find tons of interracial couples in here! Increasing visibility for BIPOC folks has been a priority for us since 2008, and note that we always allow folks to self-identify. More about how and why we do this here.

Courtney & Sam’s colorful hip-hop garden party

Instilling their love of color and music, this wedding-turned-garden party concert was even fun for passersby. Mixing traditions like jumping the broom and smashing the glass only added to the facets of awesome you’ll find. Turn on some Janelle Monae and rock out to this musical shindig.

Sheena & James’ whimsical mountain love celebration

This is the story of a media-obsessed bride becoming wedding media herself. But in this case, the bride totally made peace with her obsession and ended up with a wedding to rival all the ones she idolized. Her red gown, colorful fall decor, and epic venue with a mountain backdrop all make us wish we were right there with them. Just watch out for Zorro and Pancho Villa… there’s bound to be a fight there.

Robin & Maggie’s wedding chapel crashers two-part wedding

These two rascals sneaked into a historical chapel in New Mexico for their legal vows, and then topped it off with a big bash in Colorado with friends and family. It’s a little historical, a little emotional, and downright adorable. Oh, and you might just love one of the bride’s takes on the wedding certificate as full-on AWARD!

JC & Allen’s Whovian Wonderland wedding

A little Alice in Wonderland, a smidge of Doctor Who, and two geeky kids in the Philippines tie the knot, geek-style. With a pink princess gown, little Alices and Ums running around, and some crafty projects, there was no way this wasn’t going to be fun. Not even a typhoon warning was stopping it. Oh, and wait until you hear about the family’s first dance starring an Xbox!
