A bookish Chinese-influenced wedding with a little Star Wars
Mike and Bernie had their ceremony at a gorgeous church in downtown DC followed by a huge party at Torpedo Factory Art Center in Old Town Alexandria. The Torpedo Factory was originally a factory used for making torpedos, but is now an art center, where Bernie had worked. Bernie infused her Chinese heritage into the decor, fashion, and entertainment (Chinese lion dancers!). But these two are also geeks of our own heart and had Star Wars and book-loving details on top of it all.

Doctor Who themed run up the aisle? Check. Toast from the matchmakers, complete with sashes? Check. Super-sparkly gold reception dress to dance like crazy in? Double check. Oh, and the sunny secret garden behind the enchanting garden gate? Inspiring… but not quite as full of joy as the sunny secret hug behind the wall. So much joy!
Kate & Micah’s two families mess with Texas wedding
Two dresses + twenty folks in a Commitment Crew + dance floor debauchery and BBQ bibs = One very Texas wedding. From the flowers in her hair to the fabulous map of where all the guests had traveled from to share the weekend wedding, to the chalkboard menu of amazing Tex-Mex masterpieces, the personal touches in this wedding are some serious eye-candy. Allison & Sage’s Buddhist gothic gluten-free wedding
With 90 days to plan their wedding, these two pulled off a fusion of Victorian Gothic and Traditional Taiwanese that will blow your mind. Her beyond-gorgeous kimono and his dapper top hat and cane make for fabulous photos, but their thoughtful buffet of eats-for-all-eaters is a real sight to see, even if they did need help figuring out how to cut the cake. PS: the rally music for paper-crane-folding party? Awesome.
