An LGBTQ+ gothic elopement in the Scottish woods (…WITH FIRE!)
Kendal and Lake skipped the wedding industrial complex and went straight into the woods. From Alabama to a storm-soaked corner of Perthshire, Scotland they built an elopement around fire, water, moss, and intention. Gothic fashion, Celtic-inspired rituals, and a river vow sealed at dusk made this less a performance and more a reckoning with place, weather, and commitment.
Cry over these childhood sweethearts getting married in their 70s 😭
Many people think elopements are spur of the moment, but this simple and elegant Scottish elopement was years in the making… literally! Marlene and Stephen were childhood sweethearts. After losing touch, they reconnected years later, fell in love (again), and decided to get married. This is the stuff of Hollywood movies… Believe us, we’re gushing too!
There was no ring exchange at this fairytale Scottish elopement
When Clare and James decided to have a Scottish elopement with no ring exchange in less than two months, they didn’t have much time to plan. But you’d never know that based on these incredible photos (captured by Joy Story)! This lakeside (or loch-side, as the Scots say) elopement will have you looking at plane tickets to Scotland by the end of this post!
These world travelers had an accessible wedding with wheelchairs designed by the groom
This accessible wedding in Scotland is not one to be missed! Zara and Alex have traveled the world together, aided greatly by the groom’s own design genius: a high-tech powerchair, built by and for wheelchair users. The couple initially had trouble finding a wheelchair-friendly, accessible wedding venue in Edinburgh, so they had their wedding in Glasglow. We love their story and their celebration, documented by Sarah of Joy Story Photography.
