Amanda and Matilda's celebration might actually take your breath away! You won't be able to look away from this Colorado trans wedding, from the architecturally stunning venue to the brides' dreamy wedding dresses and finally, the CUTEST inclusive alternative wedding bouquet toss. Offbeat Wed vendor Aeron Reinhardt Photography had the honor of experiencing their special day, so we'll let them take it from here!
But first, Amanda and Matilda's love story:
As told by Amanda herself!
I originally met MJ on Tinder. We met up for a lunch date and both decided the other person was out of our league and didn’t speak again for 6 months. We met again on an elevator at Daku Con in 2018 (shoutout to Daku con y'all will always be my favorite convention for bringing my wife to me!) she complimented my cosplay and I looked up from my phone and asked if she was Matilda from our Tinder date all those months ago! She was! We spent the rest of the day hanging out and I was absolutely smitten. I asked her on a date that next day and the rest is history! I am so lucky to have her in my life and I can’t wait for our future together!
Wedding planning was both exciting and stressful. We planned everything ourselves, going to countless bridal shows. I printed out a wedding planning binder which helped a ton with organizing and making sure nothing was missed. It was a race to the finish with everything there was to plan, but I am so thankful I had Matilda by my side to help share the burden and make our day amazing. I wouldn’t change a thing. Having everyone around us while we celebrated our love made the day so incredibly special and filled me with a happiness I will remember for the rest of our lives!
This trans wedding took their guests to new heights
The wedding took place at the historic Pioneer Museum in downtown Colorado Springs. Amanda made a lot of the signage and decorations herself. The wedding party helped set-up and decorate the venue before the ceremony. Colorado Springs is 6000 ft above sea level, so there was bottled oxygen available for guests coming in from out of town that were not used to the high elevation.
Wait till you see the brides' entrances at this trans wedding
The brides had their ceremony upstairs in the old courthouse with their dear friend Patrick officiating. The wedding party processed in. All the guests were ready and awaiting the brides' entrance.
Matilda walked in first. She had not yet seen her soon-to-be-wife on their wedding day. Amanda came through the doorway, and burst into tears when she saw Matilda. Try not to cry when you read what Amanda said:
“The room could have been empty and I wouldn't have noticed. All I could see was her.”
The two embraced, and their guests bore witness, as the brides made their way to the arch at the front of the courtroom to declare their vows and join together in marriage. Family and friends had tears in their eyes as they watched these beautiful brides come together.
Now let's look at what these brides wore!
After the ceremony we went outside for photos in the flower gardens. We did a few photos inside with the stunning marble columns and ornamental windows that are so unique to the venue. Grand entrance down the majestic staircase, buffet dinner, followed by dancing and a cat and dog toss.

The couple did not want to do a bouquet and garter toss, and instead did a cat and dog plushie toss as a more gender-neutral option. Whoever catches the plushies will be the next to adopt a cat or dog!
The dance floor was packed as the celebration continued into the night.
Along with being an avid Daku Con fan, Amanda is a model, and met me (the photographer) at a photoshoot about 3 years ago. We've worked together a few times since then, and when she and MJ got engaged, she asked me to photograph their wedding. I couldn't say no. These two were an absolute joy to work with! Amanda and Matilda are both beautiful people with huge hearts. I was so excited to photograph their wedding! It was truly a great day.
