Stars meets nature: a subtly geeky lakeside wedding

Stars meets nature: a subtly geeky lakeside wedding with DIY for days

We combined our love for nature and the stars into a theme that came very easily for us. It helped that we found a venue that was the perfect setting to view the beauty of nature, as well as get a great view of the stars at night. To further our theme, I wanted to add a bit of a fantasy element so I decided to add subtle details that drew from Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, both of which we're big fans.

Tim Burton-inspired wedding

A Tim Burton-inspired wedding with hints of Star Wars and epic terrarium centerpieces

Tracy and Ben’s Tim Burton-inspired wedding was an amazing reflection of an aesthetic they love. Plus, there were hints of Star Wars and comic books, too. They finished off the day by carving their names for eternity into the wooden booth with a butter knife (a 100% restaurant-sanctioned activity). This was way more than just a pizza party. You’ll want to see it…

Find your favorite fandom in this sci-fi and fantasy wedding in Maryland

After nearly a decade together, Judy and Phil tied the knot at their alma mater of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. The two originally couldn’t decide on a theme, but man did they pick a good one in the end. They love a ton of fantasy/science fiction franchises, so it only made sense to call upon the powers of The One Ring, The Force, and The Ministry of Magic to get the job done. Just wait until you see their fandom-themed centerpieces and references to pop culture touchstones everywhere. Oh, and when elf ears are involved, I’m so in. Let’s see all the magic unfold…
