Our offbeat wedding at a glance: I was going for super glamorous, moody, regal, lots of candlelight. That is how I wanted everything to look, but my vision for the day was really for everyone to be having an amazing time, celebrating, drinking, dancing, and never wanting the night to end.
I always wanted a gold wedding dress… and after that was custom made everything fell into place like a Gothic moody dream!
Tell us about the ceremony:
We had a Catholic ceremony for my parents… but my friends (who are musical theater professionals) belted out Come What May from Moulin Rouge and it was amazing!
Lizzy also was able to get a matching gold dress for her dog, Belle – which was insanely adorable. After Lizzy & Chris’s first look they decided to do a first look with their Chihuahua babies and it was as cute as you can imagine.
The dining tables were decorated with golden, black and velvet skulls paired with unique autumn florals and black candles. The table that held the seating cards was draped with a jade green cloth wit made the golden skulls with butterflies and the black seating cards with a custom wax modeling on them pop! The seating table was also adorned with tons of candle votives – both black, gold, and elegant skulls.
Tell us about the reception:
I am a professional Irish step dancing teacher and my dance teacher from growing up was in attendance and some other follow irish step dancers, so we all got up and danced together!
What was the most important lesson you learned from your wedding?
Start planning early… and don't let anyone tell you what to do! You don't have to follow any rules — it's your day, do it your way!
