24 reasons why moonstone engagement rings might be your new obsession [Updated for 2022!]

Y’all know the diamonds are not the only stones that dominate the engagement ring market anymore. We’re seeing aaaaall kinds of gemstones infiltrating fingers on offbeat couples: morganite, sapphires, black diamonds, emeralds, and pretty much anything you can think of. But today I went down the gorgeous rabbit hole of MOONSTONE engagement rings. They’re rainbow-y, cloudy, pearly, and so so SO pretty. Plus, they’re majorly affordable and most of these rings make traditional rings look wildly expensive by comparison.
Shall we peek at some of the most gorgeous, most affordable, and most wanting-to-be-on-my-finger moonstone engagement rings ever? I say aye!

fantastic collection. among all these one ring is fascinated me so much that is moon light leaves engagement ring. i want to prefer this ring for my engagement. all designs are amazing

How durable is moonstone? I proposed to my fiancee with a “placeholder” ring, because I wanted her to have a say in what her forever-ring looked like, and we’re currently shopping for non-diamond engagement rings – but one of our concerns is having something that’ll happily last a lifetime! We’ve ruled out several otherwise-beautiful gemstones for this reason…
It’s rated as a 6.0 to 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, which means it’s not very hard. I’d guess if you’re prioritizing durability, you might want to go with another gemstone. Rubies, sapphires, and topaz are all rated 8 or higher so they’re a better bet. Sapphire rings come in tons of colors, too!

Thanks for this! I do a lot of work with my hands (professional scientist with a lab here), so durability’s probably closer to the top of my priority list than it is for most people. Coloured sapphires are gorgeous, and we’ve also been looking seriously at Moissanite (9.25 hardness & so sparkly) and Alexandrite (8.5 hardness & changes colour depending on the light source! How cool is that?)
I gave my fiancée a moonstone engagement ring. She didn’t want a diamond, and she has very small fingers. Moonkist Designs has delicate rose-shaped rings with a lot of stone choices.
