This “Blasian Invasion” wedding channeled films, diversity, and classic NYC
Blasian Invasion! We looked at this as a celebration of the union of our incredibly diverse community. My family is Afroperuvian and my husband is Filipino. Our heritage is very important to both of us, as well as our need for artistic creativity and expression. We wanted to celebrate in our home city, NYC, a place that really embodies these qualities.
A retro musical wedding with 1960s revival & rock ‘n’ roll inspiration
Music is a huge part of our lives and I let the artists who inspire us most influence the design. We drank whiskey from tea cups and had the processional set to "Fawn" by Tom Waits. His lyrics were tucked in here and there. I weaved in my love of kitsch and vintage by collecting mix and match china for 200 people (it took almost two years!) and featured a unique, cool set of vintage salt and pepper shakers on every table. We had whiskey bottles (all enjoyed with friends and family) and vintage vases that we collected for flowers.
A Medieval camping festival wedding (aka Game of Thrones meets Burning Man meets Asian customs!)
We wanted an outdoorsy, Game of Thrones meets Burning Man meets Asian customs wedding. It opened with a "Red Army" parade: a parade of our closest friends with banners, drums, bubbles, and flowers! The groom, Nick, also read family vows to my daughter. We had 300 pounds of meat (because we both love food), belly dancers, live music, fire performers, and a bounce house!
Fall in love with these women at their Chilean engagement shoot at La Vega Central Market
Camila is a makeup artist and Pilar is a visual artist who live in Santiago, Chile. Their Chilean engagement shoot was seriously destined to be an exercise in creativity, light, and contrasts. When they got engaged, they wanted to celebrate with gorgeous photos in chic outfits among the bustle of the La Vega Central Market in Santiago. When I saw it? Fireworks, y’all. The suspenders, the hairstyles, and the gritty meets colorful meets slick backdrop made my day. I’m sure it will make yours, too.
