BIPOC

Based on reader feedback that it was “hard to find any weddings of people of color,” we started tagging posts that featured a BIPOC bride and/or groom — and/or means you’ll find tons of interracial couples in here! Increasing visibility for BIPOC folks has been a priority for us since 2008, and note that we always allow folks to self-identify. More about how and why we do this here.

A modern Tuscan black tie wedding with plenty of DIY and style

A modern Tuscan black tie wedding with plenty of DIY and style

The theme to our wedding was modern, Tuscan black tie. We had champagne taste on a beer and butter budget. We splurged on the picture perfect venue and catering, but everything else you see was DIY. I hand crafted everything from flowers to centerpieces and signs to decor. They say every wedding has at least one planning nightmare. Mine happened to be the biggest nightmare for me ever. The store I purchased my dress from went BANKRUPT and closed its doors just eight weeks before my wedding!

This seaside intimate Portgual wedding is a beacon of golden light

This seaside intimate Portugal wedding is what golden dreams are made of

Madelaine and Richard celebrated their intimate Portugal wedding with just a few friends and the sea. They said the best man was the ocean! D’aww. Madelaine is from Mauritius and Richard is from Germany. They are both surfers, and met for the first time at Ericeira in Portugal two years ago. After doing the long distance thing for so long, they decided to take the leap and get married.

It all took place close to the beach at Villa Ana Margarida, a gorgeous setting for this fab tiny wedding.
Don’t miss Madelaine’s gorgeous boho gown, their laid-back style, and the seriously stunning golden light from the sunset…

Stars meets nature: a subtly geeky lakeside wedding

Stars meets nature: a subtly geeky lakeside wedding with DIY for days

We combined our love for nature and the stars into a theme that came very easily for us. It helped that we found a venue that was the perfect setting to view the beauty of nature, as well as get a great view of the stars at night. To further our theme, I wanted to add a bit of a fantasy element so I decided to add subtle details that drew from Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, both of which we're big fans.

A Houston wedding with a Frida Kahlo-inspired headpiece that SLAYS

A Houston artistic wedding with a Frida Kahlo-inspired headpiece that SLAYS

Candace and Onemena (aka Neemo) rocked an artistic wedding with influences of Frida Kahlo. There were beautiful and lush touches from Candace’s dress to the florals to the decor and fab cakes. Being a muralist herself, Candace had huge inspiration from Frida Kahlo for her beautiful floral head piece, and Thorn Floral brought it to life.

Just wait until you see the green lacy, painted goodness of her dress. Add that to her red floral crown and you’ll be blown away
