I proposed to my boyfriend using the most romantic moment in Star Wars
I proposed to my fiance Simen on our anniversary, so I thought I’d share the story of how I did it with the most romantic part of Star Wars. I went on Etsy and I found a Star Wars fidget spinner ring. He likes Star Wars (though I had never watched any of it), and he fidgets a lot, so I thought it was pretty good. I asked my friend Benedikt JOKINGLY if there was a romantic moment in Star Wars.
He showed me one particular scene you may recognize…
Spot all of the nerdy touches and adorable dogs at this wedding in the Redwoods
We were going for if Wes Andersen threw an early ’00s high school dance in the forest. We wanted lots of nerdy pop culture touches, but nothing too heavy-handed. We were in the same nerdy friend group in high school and actually dated for two weeks before going out separate ways. I was married to someone else for a decade but when that ended we reconnected. We have all the same friends and even the same godkids, so our wedding was like a giant reunion.
A Star Wars meets A Christmas Carol queer disabled multi-state wedding (in a blizzard!)
When we started planning our wedding, we quickly realized that since our families were separated by many states (I was raised in the midwest, he's from Virginia), it was going to be a logistical nightmare for us to get everyone together in one spot, so we decided to honor both sides of our family by coming to them. So we planned two weddings, one in VA and another celebration in IL.
Disney villains meet classic heroes at this high fantasy wedding
I have worked in the wedding industry for five years now and when my partner and I decided to get married I didn’t want anything “Wedding” — so what did we do? We had a Heroes and Villains themed wedding! It was a wedding filled with love and little bits from friends and family. We danced the night away and played games at every table. And in not-so-true villain fashion, I got the girl in the end!
