★ Offbeat Member Deal

Mention Offbeat Bride for 11% off, in honor of my favorite Doctor. I try to keep my pricing as accessible as I can, but if you’re not sure you can quite manage it, please reach out if you think I’m the perfect fit!

What makes me unique is that I work with all kinds of folks from all walks of life, and I keep a wide roster of vendors to support that. Want the perfect DJ for a big gay dance party? I got you. Want the caterer that’s going to actually nail the food from your culture? I know a person. Also, we don’t work with vendors that aren’t 100% on board with human rights and decency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Anyone can do pink. Let’s get weird!

I listen to my clients. What makes them unique. What traditions in their culture that they want to break, and which ones they’d like to keep. What shapes their personality and makes them who they are.

I take all of that and blend it with my clients’ requests to create a party of their lifetimes. I also like to have fun along the way!

I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, a book lover, and a fan of all things sci-fi, fantasy, and odd.

How do you personally identify, and how does that shape how you work with couples?

I’m neurodivergent, and that directly informs how I create itineraries and planning journeys. I’m also pansexual, as the kids call it these days (when I came out, they called it bisexual. Being part of the invisible community allows me to help educate family members to understand the couple and how they identify, because I appear as a safe place to talk about it.

How did you get started as a wedding pro?

The wedding industry was an unfriendly place for anyone that’s different. For real, it was like they considered diversity to be adding a redhead (woman, never a guy, of course) into the mix. I saw a different future for things. While I think the pendulum has done a crappy swing back on the progress made, it’s still far beyond where we were.

What was the moment you realized you didn't fit into the traditional wedding industry?

I was helping a friend plan her wedding right after Obergefell v. Hodges. She kept being told that vendors weren’t available after mentioning that her partner is a woman. I got so mad, I started making the calls for her. Getting married was something I’d never really considered up to this point, and I realized that most of the industry was a disaster.

Describe your aesthetic in three words that have nothing to do with weddings.

Fun, unique, party-centric.

What's one thing conventional wedding vendors often get wrong, and how do you do it differently?

I don’t love putting other vendors down, especially when they mean well. I would say that I’m different because I view weddings this way: two things happen that day. You get married, and then you have a party. That ceremony and that party should be what you’ll enjoy. We’ve had raves. We’ve had Bollywood dances. We’ve had no dancing with an epic dinner party and lounges for people to talk. We’re here to help make it yours.

What's your favorite wedding tradition and why?

Ooooooo I love a good baraat (if you’re unfamiliar, it’s when a marrier is escorted by their family to the entrance of the ceremony. There’s music, dancing, and the occasional horse). Among Western European cultures, I love hand-fastings. The Seven Blessings of Jewish weddings are also a favorite. (Sorry, I know it’s more than one, but I can’t help it)

What wedding tradition or trend do you wish would die and never come back?

The garter toss. The whole thing is utterly weird and borderline assault. Why am I watching someone touch a stranger’s leg in front of a crowd? ICK. I do enjoy a good stuffed animal toss instead of the bouquet!

Have you planned your own wedding? How did it change how you work?

Yes, and I’ll never do it again. Not just because I don’t want to get divorced, but because I don’t want to deal with the stress of it. My advice: pay attention to how much you commit to DIY, and consider how much free time you actually have to do it.

What's the weirdest or most nontraditional wedding element you've helped pull off?

Couple did their first dance on aerial ropes (their wedding was at their circus school). LOVED IT. Then there was the T-Rex. Not the funny blow up kind, but the kind that looks like the real thing. I’m fully aware that those things have been extinct for millions of years, but when that giant lizard came across the parking lot at me…I noped right out of there.

What do you wish couples knew about you before they reached out?

I’m not sure? I try to put as much of myself out there as I can so people know the weird they’re gonna be getting.

What's the most surprising client feedback you've ever gotten?

I’m like a wedding therapist (vendors have also given me this feedback). While not a licensed professional, I do listen when the family pressure or friend drama gets to be a lot, or the three month stress mark happens. I like to be there for my clients in every way, not just on a strictly professional basis.

How do your couples describe you when they're recommending you to friends?

I’m not entirely sure, but I did have one recommend me to her sibling this way: The OG client had had a more “traditional” looking wedding at a country club, but they were really fun people that had one of my favorite reception entrances. They had the right personalities to mesh with mine. When her sibling got engaged, she had a very, very different plan in mind (we ended up doing a dark, enchanted woods design in a castle). The original client laughed and told her sibling to go take another look at my work and to give me a call. That, to me, is a great example of what I do: create weddings that the clients want to attend.
