Frequently Asked Questions

Hi!

Costanza (she/her) and Daniela (she/her) here!

We are based in Tuscany, Italy, and we know how stressful it can be to plan for a destination wedding.

The language barrier, the cultural difference, it can all add up to the normal stress of planning.

Here we come in help!

We are two professionals coming from different journeys that both landed us in planning weddings for other people. We thrive on making sure that our spouses have all the accommodation they need and that your experience in Italy is the best you can dream.

We’re both huge nerds, and I mean, Costanza is a Larper and a D&D DM, Daniela can’t stop creating things inspired by her passion of the moment, and we know how it feels not to be understood and you will never feel that way with us.

We are LGBTQIA+ friendly, and our LGBTQIA+ spouses know that we’ll move mountains and seas to make sure that they have the best experience: the selection of vendors plays a very important factor, especially here in Italy, but let  me reassure you: most people are kind. And we weed out the rest.

We have already worked with ND clients (especially autistic people and ADHD people), and Costanza discovered, in this  journey, that she’s ND as well. Daniela has a degree in psychology and we always make sure that our events are comfortable for our ND fellows that might be present. We get all the information for you and if you have special instructions, we work hard to make sure that our vendors and teams know exactly what to do during your event.

Our aim is to create a safe space for you to express yourself fully, and then to create an atmosphere that matches your beautiful selves!

So… just hit us up with a message or an email, and we’ll be back to you as soon as possible!

How do you personally identify, and how does that shape how you work with couples?

I am demi-sexual (probably demi-romantic too) ADHD cis-woman. Oh, and I’m a nerd! I know how it feels to be put on the sidelines, or to be enthusiastic about something and to only receive a lukewarm reaction on the other side. I never want my spouses to feel tolerated… I want you to feel like you have a safe space here. So, whether it’s about making sure that the vendors are LGBTQ-friendly, that the menu has your safe food, or the spoons are the right ones, that’s what I’m there for.

How did you get started as a wedding pro?

Honestly, I started by helping one of my best friends in her own wedding. She was so anxious about everything, and wanted to feel safe. And her vendors asked me if it was my job… it was 2013 and I took some time to study and understand what I needed… and then Magical Vows was born in 2016. Honestly, what helps more is my ADHD brain always going full speed to solve any problem, and being a GM in LARP… weddings and LARP sessions have more in common than one thinks…

What was the moment you realized you didn't fit into the traditional wedding industry?

Immediately. I knew I couldn’t fit in there, I’ve never fit into anything traditional. I knew I wanted to cater to people like me, who never feel like they belong… we create our spaces where we belong.

Describe your aesthetic in three words that have nothing to do with weddings.

Eclectic. Unexpected. Easy

What's one thing conventional wedding vendors often get wrong, and how do you do it differently?

They think that the things that are done more frequently are also the “correct” things and that guests need/expect them. They basically adhere to rules without understanding the reason for them. I like to understand why a certain thing is done in a certain way, and by understanding it, it allows me to change it while still respecting its root. Let me give you an example. In Italy it’s traditional to have the cutting of the cake just after the dinner. I do that too, usually, because it works for most people. But, is there a particular reason why it’s there? My reasoning is that, as it’s a dessert, it is expected to be served after the savory meal. Usually people find it very weird to eat the dessert right before anything savory. In one of my weddings, I put the cutting of the cake just after the ceremony. Why? Well, my bride was autistic and she didn’t want all the guests to go to her at once and demand hugs and kisses. It would have overwhelmed her in 2 minutes. So, I planned the cutting and service of the cake just after the ceremony, about two hours before the dinner. This way, we got: 1. A buffer time after the ceremony. 2. Something that would keep the guests busy, allowing them to go to the bride and groom in smaller groups, so she wouldn’t be overwhelmed. 3. A sense of novelty for the guests, but without disrupting the expectation of the “order of the meal”: this was served 2 hours before the dinner, so it was separate enough in their mind to categorize as “merenda” (afternoon snack). I subverted an apparently “fixed” rule to give the bride her rightful accommodation without having the guests think that it was wrong. If anything, they found it refreshing. Because even traditional people appreciate something new, when it’s done thoughtfully.

Have you planned your own wedding? How did it change how you work?

Yes, actually in my first year as Wedding Planner… oh, it allowed me to understand the pressure in person, how the emotions change the perception of any issue, which made me more aware of how something that seems really small from the outside, can become huge for a spouse that lives it. I also understood how a 13 minutes ceremony can feel much longer when you’re the bride!

What's the weirdest or most nontraditional wedding element you've helped pull off?

Oh, one for sure is the cutting of the cake just after the ceremony, but it was honestly quite easy! Ooh, for sure the one that needed more planning brain from me was the couple where the bride got her entrance on horseback, wearing trousers and the wedding dress top, to just change in her long skirt before the ceremony, while a bird of prey brought the rings. No, really, the logistics in there was so fun to create!

What's the most surprising client feedback you've ever gotten?

One of my first brides, who told me that she didn’t expect to have fun on her wedding day (they had quite overbearing parents) and that my work, both as a buffer between her and the families, and on making sure the wedding was what they wanted, made it so that she had a lot of fun on that day.
