I have a lot of love for 1920s styling. Case in point: this amazing vintage-style wedding between a magician and his assistant. Could it be any more perfect? So when we run across real Roaring ’20s weddings, we must post!
Check out Madeline and Leslie at their October 1927 wedding. Madeline’s short dress/long veil combination was popular in the 1910s and into the 1930s. When Flapper Magazine debuted in 1922, they defined a flapper as: “Short skirts. Rolled sox. Bobbed Hair. Powder and Rouge. No corsets. One-piece bathing suits. No chaperons. Attractive clothes. The inalienable rights to make dates. Good times.” So these times of emancipation surely influenced wedding wear, as we can see in this photo. Amazingly, men’s fashion seems to have its own cycle and this isn’t too dissimilar from what we’d see today.

I couldn’t believe it the first time I saw my great-grandmother’s wedding photo from 1927. It’s a short flapper dress! And that veil! And the headpiece! What’s not to love?

*sigh* I adore 1920s styling. Brides of this era were THE origional offbeat brides. I would love to see a modern wedding with the short skirt/long veil combo.
